How to register a flat-rate business in Serbia
Step by step: from choosing a name and activity code to filing the application with APR and receiving the decision.
Registering a flat-rate business in Serbia — step by step
Registering as an entrepreneur in Serbia is a relatively simple process that you can complete in person or online via the APR (Business Registers Agency) portal.
What do you need?
- An ID card or passport
- A chosen business name (check availability on the APR website)
- An activity code (under the Regulation on the Classification of Activities)
- The address of your business seat
- The registration fee (around 1.700 RSD)
Registration steps
Step 1: Name check First of all, check whether the name you have chosen already exists in the APR database. The name must be unique.
Step 2: Choosing the activity code The activity code determines which group your business belongs to and directly affects the amount of the flat-rate tax. Consult the Poreska uprava (Tax Administration) or a licensed accountant before choosing a code.
Step 3: Filing the application The application is filed electronically via the APR portal or in person at an APR office. Online registration is faster and cheaper.
Step 4: Receiving the PIB and registration number APR delivers the registration decision within 5 working days. After that, the Poreska uprava automatically assigns a PIB (tax identification number).
Step 5: Opening a business bank account You can open a business account at any bank in Serbia. You will need: the APR decision, your ID card and the PIB.
What next?
After registration, you need to file the tax return (PPDG-1R) and start keeping the KPO knjiga (revenue ledger).
